Players’ Player of the Year Is Nani

Nani, the Portugese winger who plays for Manchester United  has capped off his amazing season by walking away with  the Players’ Player of the Year award at tofficial Manchester United awards night that was held on Wednesday. The Reds’ winger was only voted second in the poll for the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award, which is voted for by the supporters. He lost out by only one percent to  Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez.

Nani has had a truly outstanding year for the Red’s, scoring 10 goals and being credited with 18 assists as he helped his team to reclaim the Premier League title and also make the final of the Champions league for the 3rd time in 4 years.

After he was presented with his award by the Man Utd manager Sir Alex Ferguson, Nani thanked his teammates for honouring him with the award. He said they had helped him enormously this year and that he has been very focussed on his aims for this year, to win the league and to improve and grow as a player.

“This has been my most consistent season for United. Every year I’ve been here I have improved and this one was fantastic for me. I created a lot of goals and scored more than last season, so I’m very happy. I hope to do even better next season.”

Speaking to MUTV, the Portuguese went on to say: “It’s a great feeling because a lot of players have been playing so well this season and I didn’t know who it was going to be. I gave my vote to Edwin Van der Sar, he’s been playing so well this season.

“Of course though, it is a fantastic feeling when you know your teammates give their votes to you. It makes you so happy! I’ve improved a lot this season. In the past when I arrived at this club I was playing a lot more for me, more for skills, trying to score by myself but I’ve been learning a lot from the coaches and the other players – that the most important thing is when you play for the team and when you do this things come for you, assists as well as goals.”
