Players’ Player of the Year Is Nani

Nani, the Portugese winger who plays for Manchester United  has capped off his amazing season by walking away with  the Players’ Player of the Year award at tofficial Manchester United awards night that was held on Wednesday. The Reds’ winger was only voted second in the poll for the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award, which is voted for by the supporters. He lost out by only one percent to  Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez.

Nani has had a truly outstanding year for the Red’s, scoring 10 goals and being credited with 18 assists as he helped his team to reclaim the Premier League title and also make the final of the Champions league for the 3rd time in 4 years.

After he was presented with his award by the Man Utd manager Sir Alex Ferguson, Nani thanked his teammates for honouring him with the award. He said they had helped him enormously this year and that he has been very focussed on his aims for this year, to win the league and to improve and grow as a player.

“This has been my most consistent season for United. Every year I’ve been here I have improved and this one was fantastic for me. I created a lot of goals and scored more than last season, so I’m very happy. I hope to do even better next season.”

Speaking to MUTV, the Portuguese went on to say: “It’s a great feeling because a lot of players have been playing so well this season and I didn’t know who it was going to be. I gave my vote to Edwin Van der Sar, he’s been playing so well this season.

“Of course though, it is a fantastic feeling when you know your teammates give their votes to you. It makes you so happy! I’ve improved a lot this season. In the past when I arrived at this club I was playing a lot more for me, more for skills, trying to score by myself but I’ve been learning a lot from the coaches and the other players – that the most important thing is when you play for the team and when you do this things come for you, assists as well as goals.”

Sir Alex Ferguson knuckles rapped by FA Following recent comments he made about referee Howard Webb, Sir Alex Ferguson, was warned by the Football Association as to his future conduct. The FA had charged Ferguson with improper conduct after he discussed Webb two days prior to the United’s victory over Chelsea on May 8th. He said they were getting the best referee and there was no doubt about it, but getting a bad decision is our fear, in his pre-match news conference.

The FA sent all managers a letter in October advising that any pre-match comments would be interpreted as attempting to influence an official, whether negative or positive, and be in contravention of Rule E3. Last Friday the FA charged the United manager and now have decided as the governing body, that a warning is the measure to be taken as this time.

This rule was enacted in the beginning of the 2009/10 season and formally reiterated on October 21, 2010 to all clubs read a statement from the Regulatory Commission. This is the first time this matter reached the commission and is a clear breach, but they felt it was a minor breach but nevertheless it should be taken as a sign to all managers for the future that this type breach will result in an FA charge.

Manchester City Players turn models 24 hours after cup win The Manchester City Players walked the catwalk for charity just one day after hoisting the FA Cup for the first time in 35 years at Wembley. Many of the teams heroes of Wembley were on hand to strut their stuff at the annual charity fundraiser organized by their teammate Shay Given – Fashion Kicks at the Lancashire County Cricket, located a mere step or true from the grounds of their arch rivals the Red Devils of Manchester United.

City were led by their vice captain Vincent Kompany at the star-studded affair which saw supermodel Lily Cole strut her runway stuff. But despite all their heroics and FA Cup victory there were not champagne glasses on hand or in hands. Their Italian manager, Roberto Mancini has laid down strict no alcohol rules as they approach their last game of the campaign against Stoke, the very side they scored 1-0 victory against to raise the Cup at Wembley.

Others members that joined in the fundraiser were Joe Hart, the English goalkeeper, Joleon Lescott and Gareth Barry fellow international teammates along with Adam Johnson and defender Micah Richards. Given’s wife organized the event that raised money for Chefs Adopt a School, Beechwood Cancer Care and Macmillan Cancer Support.
