Sam Allardyce the manager of West Ham felt that a penalty should have been called but wasn’t when his team left the FA Cup with a 0-1 loss against Manchester United. The only goal was scored by Wanye Rooney in the third-round replay.

A penalty shot was missed in the second half, and it was due to referee Phil Dowd catching Jordan Spence getting his hand on the ball. While Allardyce wasn’t disputing that, he felt that the Hammers should have been given a penalty kick as well as Rafael seemed to also touch the ball illegally.

Allardyce told ITV that the was no doubt in his mind that Rafael committed a handball foul just like Spence’s. The only difference was that Spence was on the West Ham side, which was the away team. He implied that the referee was more lenient due to Rafael playing at home.

The manager continued by stating that this is nothing new at Old Trafford. While he acknowledged the ref was in a difficult spot to pick out the handball, he was in a worse position when he called Jordon Spence. Yet he managed to see that one.

On the other hand, United advanced to a fourth-round tie with Fulham, and Ryan Giggs of United said he was a relieved about it. Per his interview, he said that in the FA Cup anything can happen as many of the final results demonstrated. Nonetheless, he was please to get through, and he gave credit to West Ham as a tough opponent.

While Avram Grant may be enjoying a reprieve after Martin O’Neill turned down the offer to take on the task of managing West Ham, the reprieve may only be silent as word is that he will be replaced before the season closes.

The West Ham team is still sitting at the bottom of the Premier League and after finishing the Arsenal match on Sunday with 3-0 the rumour was that Martin O’Neill would move in as coach by the end of this week

O’Neill has since turned down the job but that hasn’t stopped punters betting that Grant will be the next manager to be shown the door, with Boylesports.com offering 15/8 that he is still the manager of West Ham on the last day of the season.

The former Chelsea manager is 1/6 to not be in charge at Upton Park on the first day of the 2011/12 season, against 7/2 that he is.

The Hammers are currently the 4/7 favourites to drop down to the Championship and 5/4 to stay up.

“Martin O’Neill may have turned down the job at West Ham but we still think that Avram’s days are numbered,” said Boylesports.com Head of Public Relations Leon Blanche.

“With reports already linking some big name managers to his job and hard-nosed owners like Gold and Sullivan in the boardroom, Grant looks to be on borrowed time.”

Katy Perry shows her revealing colours The badge of the West Ham United team has become a fashion trend in itself thanks to American singer Katy Perry who has been wearing the logo in support of her boyfriend Russel Brand.

Perry showed up at the MTV Europe Music Awards ceremony dressed in a very revealing two piece that was blue and white made out of three replica West Ham shirts.  On the small pieces of clothing were two club crests and across her pants the words Rusty were enamoured in support of her boyfriend.

Freelance celebrity stylist Siobahn Dillon was in charge of Perry’s outfit which was supplied to her by the club.  Dillon decided it would be fun to keep the football theme live in the outfit so she used the collars from the men’s shirts to make the top of the bra and put the badges on front.

For West Ham United fans who loved Perry’s outfit, the good news is that Dillon will release a limited range collection of the outfits for fans with 50 initially being sold by the club stores to judge the response.  The shirts are only available through pre-order and will run £300 each.
