Wayne Rooney leaving United Rumours abound that Wayne Rooney is not going to be signing with Manchester United.  It has been reported that Rooney, whose contract is up during summer of 2012 has called off negotiations and that it is possible he might be sold in January.  Allegedly, Real Madrid has expressed interest.

Manchester United claims that this is all just speculation and the idea that Rooney would be let go during the transfer window in January is ridiculous.  All of this comes amid reports of a strained relationship between Rooney and Manchester United’s manager.

Manager, Alex Ferguson has left Rooney out of several games, claiming the striker had injured an ankle.  Rooney himself contradicted that statement after a game between England and Montenegro for a Euro qualifier.

Other reports say that Rooney’s ankle was hurt and that Ferguson was simply attempting to protect him.

Rooney was again not in the starting line-up for Manchester United in a game versus West Brom.  Ferguson did bring him on with twenty minutes remaining after Manchester United had dropped a lead of two goals.  The game ended in a 2-2 draw.

Ferguson has not commented on any of the speculation about Rooney’s play or personal life.  Real Madrid has commented that they have no idea who they would move out were they to add another striker to the team.  Still, they have not come out directly and said they have no interest in Rooney.

Truth be told, Rooney is an excellent footballer and if he is suffering some slump, he is bound to emerge from it.
