It was thought that several over age players were going to be chosen from Manchester United to play football in the Olympic Games that are occurring this summer. However, Sir Alex Ferguson has just made the announcement that the only overage player from the team that can be selected to play in the Olympic Games is Ryan Giggs.

The coach, Stuart Pearce, was potentially going to pick Jonny Evans or Paul Scholes, but this has been made an impossibility because of Sir Alex’s decision. A court ruling in 2008 also made selection of football players for the Olympics rather challenging. This court decision stated that football clubs have no obligation to release their players to play in the Olympic Games and it is a decision that they will have to make by themselves.

Ryan Giggs is not officially been chosen for the tournament, this decision just decides whether you will be allowed to play in the Olympic Games. However, Mr Giggs has stated that if you were asked to play on the Olympic squad, he would accept the invitation.

Each squad in the Olympic Games are allowed to select three players who are over the normal age limit and Mr Giggs falls into this category. The question was whether the Football Association would allow Mr Giggs to play because of his age.

A spokesperson from the Football Association has refused to comment on whether they have received any communications from Manchester United about the issue. It seems as if this means that a legal battle about the issue is not going to take place, especially considering the typically accepting position of Manchester United that young players don’t get involved in Euro 2012. The original court decision was about whether to release players for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

A challenge on Rooney by an opposition player is at 20/1, which Fergie thought should have been the case Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge. Ferguson’s statements after United’s defeat of Chelsea midweek are only examples of ways he is failing to win over the men in the middle. Boylesports.com lays 66/1 he is kick back to the stands anytime during the match.

Leon Blanche, Head of Public Relations at Boylesports.com, said, “Given the referees’ large role in the games, and considering Alex Ferguson’s statements over the past week regarding officials, there will be a lot of pressure on Phil Dowd Sunday.”

“This is a referee who has only one above him with the most number of cards per game in the country, and he’s being given responsibility over something that is full of temper tantrums. There will be plenty for him to say at full time about it.

Alex Ferguson lashes out at agents Letting his irritation show forth, Sir Alex Ferguson vented about the unreasonable, and in some cases immoral, demands some football agents have put forward since he has been with Manchester United.

An unnamed agent demanded a block of flats to close the deal or his player would not sign. Another agent requested money for every goal scored by his player, but Ferguson pointed out that they were signing up and paying the player for exactly that. These incidents have been handed over to the directors of the club.

He was upset by the Blackburn Rovers’ agent, Jerome Anderson, because Sam Allardyce was let go. Sam is one of Ferguson’s good friends. Ferguson responded to sacking, “If Anderson had to pick something he couldn’t even pick his nose.”

During an interview with RTE Radio 1, he declared that the manager is the top of the heap at Manchester United and that if the player ever thinks he is more important it will destroy the team and they will never recover.

Ferguson also has strong opinions about the limitations that managers should have when negotiating wages for players. “A manager may phone me, and that’s when I get really irritated, when he asks for £1 million a year for a player who isn’t even a star. They believe they can work miracles like this.”

He clarifies, “The top paid players at Manchester United are getting paid what they earn. They are regularly out there performing in front of everyone, every time. Consistency and quality are the materials of star players. People expect them to perform well and it draws crows every week. That is why they get paid what we pay them.”

Alex Ferguson draws the line,.. At coloured boots The English football Premier League has not had a good last few weeks with tabloids featuring the indiscretions of many of its star players almost every day.

Although Ashley Cole’s troubled marriage to Cheryl Cole and John Terry’s adulterous affair have been pretty horrible for the football teams, and the fact that Portsmouth is threatened with a wind up order after the financial mismanagement of the bottom club.

However, while the world’s wealthiest sporting team is out searching for a moral compass, Sir Alex Ferguson may be able to help out by taking a strong stand against vivid bright coloured football boots.  According to his new rules, all of the junior players on the Manchester team will have to wear old school black any time they are on club business.

Defender John O’Shea stated that the restrictions are to help the players from being singled out if they are playing poorly and that once a team earns a spot on the first team squad or reserve then they can wear flashy colours.

Although it may seem as if Ferguson’s change is simply cosmetic, the truth is that the collared boot has represented football’s popularity over the last twenty years and its absence in junior players may help restore honour and order to wear it is due.

Before Ferguson’s announcement people were already getting tired of the collared boots with youth team coach of the Queens Park Rangers, Marc Bircham, banning his players from wearing them because of how flashy they look.
