Leicester City becomes a Thai football club The Leicester City football club has been purchased by a consortium led by Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn, a Thai businessman. Chairman of the club, Milan Mandaric will still retain his position.

The three year sponsorship deal was made official last week and Mandaric is hopeful that the deal will help the Championship Club once again return to its previous glory in the Premier League.

Mandaric stated that the deal will bring new energy and strength to the club and is a great opportunity both for the club and its supporters.  According to Mandaric, the deal represents ambition, strength, and partnership all of which will help bring the club back to its former standing within the Primer League.

Ian Wright and rock legend Alice Cooper talk about their hopes for the next football season.  This is part of a series from the Sun newspaper which has spoken to a host of celebrities, including a few you would not usually expect to hear from, about their hopes for the upcoming football season.

Vanessa Perroncel talks about John Terry affair Ah well, we’ll probably never know the whole, true story, but then the participants seem a little uncertain themselves.  A few facts are available, however.  One is that England’s John Terry was divested of his captaincy of the national soccer team as a result of allegations that he had or was having an affair with Vanessa Perroncel, the French lingerie model.

Terry was and is married and the father of twins.  Vanessa’s boyfriend before the alleged affair was Wayne Bridge, teammate and ‘close friend’ of John Terry.  When the rumours started flying, Terry tried to get a gag order to keep the whole thing quiet.  That didn’t work very well.

Today, in her first TV interview since the affair was ‘discovered’, Vanessa Perroncel talked with Kate Garraway of GMTV.  When asked if she did have an affair with Terry, Vanessa insisted that they were “just friends”.  She also said that the allegations about being paid to keep quiet were utterly false, and she “didn’t take a penny from him.”  Vanessa also seems to believe that Toni Poole, Terry’s wife, believes her denials.

Whatever she did or did not do, Vanessa repeats, “there was no malicious intent.”  She says that she hopes to get back together with Wayne Bridge, the father of her 3-year-old son.  He was “the one”, she says, but their relationship suffered from too much absence on his part, and so far Wayne hasn’t come forward to give us his opinion on the situation.

Five by Rio Ferdinand, new fashion footwear It looks as if Rio Ferdinand will miss the start of the season and won’t get back on the field until September, according to Sir Alex Ferguson, manager of Manchester United.  The damaged knee ligament that kept him from the World Cup has not healed quite as fast as originally forecast, but the injured captain has not been entirely idle.  Last week Ferdinand was in London to launch his new collection of footwear fashion for men, which he’s calling ‘Five by Rio Ferdinand’ – or just ‘Five’.

Rio designed the collection for Strutt Couture, named it for his jersey number and has already found a space in Manchester, i.e. Aspecto in the city centre and at Trafford Centre, to showcase his stuff.  He told interviewers that he is always looking for interests outside of football and that fashion is one of his passions.

There are 24 different shoe styles in the Autumn/Winter collection including boots and trainers and ranging from classic to casual.  The collection also includes accessories for men, wallets and ‘manbags’.  Sure, there are plenty of skeptics, but Rio’s shoes actually look pretty good, and he’s never been one to let a little opposition bother him.
