For many football fans, Danny Ings is a hard guy to dislike. Unless he plays for your rivals, that is. Humble, hard working, committed, and a tremendous finisher; he’s one of the best forwards in the Premier League.
While a pair of serious injuries at Liverpool meant he was never likely to make the grade at Anfield, he’s got tremendous quality. Having helped to get his boyhood club out of trouble so far this season, Ings could have international football to look forward to once again.
What makes Danny Ings stand out?
Aside from his buzzy characteristics, what makes Ings game so impressive is his passing. He regularly hits short combinations and isn’t adverse to a decent long diagonal when the moment calls for it. He’s got a quality finish with both feet, and he’s also very good when it comes to winning the ball back.
When he was younger, Ings was compared to Carlos Tevez in many aspects of his play. That rugged desire to win the ball back and play it quickly has never died out in his game. He’s an all-action striker; the kind that will thrive in 2020.
What does Danny Ings need to work on?
If there is one weakness to his game, it’s in the air. Though he can score goals with his head, he often suffers if he has to contest the header. Danny Ings, despite having scored a few good headers over the years, lacks aerial prowess. If he could improve his spring and his timing, he would add numerous more goals to an already impressive tally.
Another issue for Ings is that he can be somewhat streaky as a goalscorer. While by no means the only forward to have that issue, consistency could see him move up another tier altogether.
