Beckhams set to head home

There is much speculation that David and Victoria Beckham are going to be returning to the United Kingdom now David has finished playing football in Los Angeles. Victoria has reportedly been spotted house hunting in London and the couple have said in the past they were keen for their children to complete their education in England.

A source close to the couple has recently commented, “They have been looking to buy a home for some time now. They have been waiting for the right property to come along but now that David has finished his contract with LA Galaxy Victoria has been hunting for a family home in earnest.

They will be hoping that history doesn’t repeat itself as they lost a lot of money when they sold their last home in Hertfordshire before they made the move to LA. They bought the house back in 1999 and reportedly paid £2.5m but then spent around £ 18m on renovations and by they time they sold it the house had swimming pools, tennis courts, a gym, a studio and a petting zoo.

Victoria has an apartment in London that she kept for when she was making flying visits to the capital for her fashion business, and whether they hang onto this prime piece of property is uncertain, although the certainly won’t need to sell it to raise funds for their new home.

 

FA decides not to take serious measures over pitch invasions

The Football Association (FA), has decided that they will not take serious measures against the pitch invasions that continued to occur during the Milton Keynes Dons and AFC Wimbledon match. The London side believes that the other club stole their heritage when they stole their name.

A probe will soon be launched to investigate how and why fans were able to get onto the pitch in the first place during the second round FA Cup-tie at Stadium MK which saw MK Dons win against AFC Wimbledon with a last ditch goal in the dying minutes of the game.

AFC supporters were already angered by the fact that they were in the home grounds of the Milton Keynes Dons, and when they bagged the match winning goal that is all that was needed for the AFC Supporters to rush the pitch.

Karl Robinson, the MK Dons boss went out to the pitch to tell their supporters to head back to their seats as both fan groups ending up rushing the pitch and he is aware that the FA could choose to fine both clubs at the end of the investigation.

Metropolitan Police cracking down on football related violence

Today a group of football hooligans were arrested for an after match brawl as part of a new effort to crackdown on violence that is related to football matches.

The investigation that brought the arrests began after a fight started between Brighton & Hove Albion fans and Crystal Palace fans on November 10 following two separate football matches that took place on the same day.

Officers from the Met Investigations Team carried out six arrests during the early morning hours at addresses located in Sussex, Kent, and Surrey. Four of the men between the ages of 21 and 41 were arrested in Sussex and the other two men aged 21 and 28 were arrested in Kent and Surrey.

Later two more men were arrested from the Croydon area making it a total of eight men that were arrested as a result of the football fight.

Walter Smith gives his support to the new owners of Rangers

Walter Smith, former manager of Rangers, declared that he supports the new owners of the club and the job they are doing at Ibrox. He is confident that they are working in the right direction and the club will restore its previous glory and condition. Smith was recently assigned as a non-executive director at Rangers, just five months after he tried to buy out the Sevco Scotland consortium owned by Charles Green.

Green declined Smith’s bid for the £5.5million consortium and persuaded Smith to become a part of his group. It seems like Green did a job as Smith joined the Rangers Board a few days ago. Green announced his plans to sell £20million worth of shares to investors and the supporters of the club.

Smith released an official statement as the new non-executive director of Rangers: “ I’m glad to once again be an official part of this legendary club. I want to assure all our supporters that the people in charge of the team are doing their best to reconstruct it and restore its previous condition. I’m confident that the club will soon forget this difficult period of its history.”

He added: “ I’m not just a former manager of Rangers. I’ve loved this club since a young child and I am just one of the thousands of supporters which the club has. As a fan, I assure you that I’ll everything in my power to help Rangers rise.”

It is no secret that Green isn’t the only person responsible for Smith’s decision to join the board. Rangers’ manager, Ally McCoist, has contacted Smith several times, convincing him to join the board and become a part of the club. McCoist stated: “Smith’s experience is welcome to the club. He has proven to be one of the greatest Rangers’ supporters and I believe that his presence at the club will help everyone.”
