When the ballot involving top-flight clubs in Scotland comes up in the following week, St Mirren has threatened to vote against the reconstruction of the league. The proposal will be put in front of a 12 Scottish premier league clubs, and is designed to merge the Scottish football league, and introduce a 12-12-18 structure.

The Paisley Club has stated that after studying the Articles of association, structure and shareholders agreement, The St Mirren Board Members have declined to support the motion set up in the proposal, which will be tabled on Monday.

The joining of the Senior Football League, and the Scottish League, into a single organisation is supported by the Saints Chiefs. Despite their perceived support for this proposal, they have expressed disdain at some of the terms which the SPL leaders want to put into place before the start of the next season.

A case in point is the proposal to split up the two divisions at the top of the league into 3 groups, with eight teams. These concerns are not just shared by the Saints Chiefs, but also by fans and coaching staff, who were included in the deliberations.

Although they support the proposal to have a new league structure, a single governing body, and a new model of distribution is one that is well thought out. But the way that the proposal is presented will not have the desired effect of promoting Scottish football.

The proposal outlays plans to have teams play 22 games before splitting into 3 groups of 8 teams. However, the middle 8 will lose all the points that they had won in the first round, and this will serve to demoralise players, and affect the game. The system has been tried in other countries and rejected for this reason. The fans would also have to get rid of their season tickets, a fact that will not go down well with them.

David Beckham takes to the skies as the face of Breitling

David Beckham has been chosen by Breitling to be the face of the Transocean Unitime world timer watch.

This latest campaign sees the establishment of a long term partnership between a historic and innovative brand and one of most celebrated, and in demand, icons in the world.

It is apt, when you consider the long established ties Breitling has with aviation, that the sky is the limit for both of them, and throughout their history hey have created a number of great travel watches, including the iconic Unitime watch which anyone who was anyone wore in the 1950’s and 1960’s.

In the spring of 2012, Breitling added the Transocean Chronograph Unitime to the Transocean range. Equipped with the new Manufacture Breitling Caliber B05 featuring a patented mechanism, this worldtimer chronograph has asserted itself as the ultimate travel watch thanks to its double disk, which enables permanent readings of the time in all 24 timezones, and its ultra-user-friendly crown-operated correction system.

One of the world’s most successful sportsmen and style icons, David Beckham stars in the Breitling advertisement featuring a highly evocative visual shot by renowned American photographer Anthony Mandler. On the runway of the Mojave Air & Space Port in California, this striking image shows Beckham standing in front of a private jet wearing his Transocean Chronograph Unitime.

“I’ve always been a long-time admirer of Breitling,” said David Beckham. “As a company they create not only the highest-performance watches but also timeless designs that have inspired generations. It was a natural choice for me to partner with this fantastic brand.”

Alex Gerrard is used to being in high heels given the fact that she is one of the leading WAG’s in England, but as a mother of three she deserves extra praise for the pair of high heels that she was able to carry out the other day when she hit the streets for Gay Pride Liverpool.

Alex showed up for the event on very high platforms that only had thin shoelace heels supporting them. It looked as if the shoes could break at any moment, but Alex was light on her feet and looked quite comfortable in the footwear.

Of course, her modeling history most likely prepared her for this type of feat as she celebrated the LGBT event with a male pal in the city. Married to footballer Steven Gerrard, she has three young daughters.

You wouldn’t know it from the rest of the outfit as the slim model choose to pair the tiny heels with skinny PVC leggings that were paired with a black blazer and a grey t-shirt. Her blonde hair was pulled back casually but her eyes were painted up drawing attention to them right away.

The event is notable because the Liverpool FC who Steven plays for was the first Premier League club to be represented at a ‘Pride’ event in the UK. The club offered Liverpool Pride a banner and representatives from the LFC Foundation and the LFC Ladies club marched alongside the group.

In addition the club also had a stall set up at the Pier Head site and offered signed items for purchase as a way to raise money for future events. Ian Ayre the managing director for Liverpool FC stated that they are committed to making sure that equality and inclusion are supported by the club for years to come.

The new National Football Museum certainly has some interesting exhibits, including a penalty shootout area, coins given out at petrol stations and one of Maradona’s shirts. Whilst Steve Hodge may not be English footballers most memorable figures, and is often referred to more as a journeyman than a star, he is the proud owner of this most renowned item of football memorabilia.

At the end of the notorious quarter final in the World Cup of 1986, when a certain Mr Maradona effectively punched England out of the competition with his hand of god goal, it was Hodge who swapped shirts with the diminutive Argentine cheat. From that day he has held this in his possession, well almost, as he had to keep it in his bank as his home insurance company deemed it to valuable to insure under his contents policy.

While it isn’t recorded anywhere officially, it’s rather safe to assume that Diego didn’t have the same problem with Hodge’s shirt. From next weekend though, Hodge will no longer have to make an appointment with his bank manager if he wants to have a look at this shirt of shame, as it will take its place amongst the 3000 items that make up the display of Manchester’s new National Museum of Football.

Adam Comstive is the marketing and communications manager for the museum, and he says that when they have had test groups around, it’s one of the first things they go to see. He added that he thinks its is an object that we all love to hate.

To be honest, the object of such revision isn’t much to look at. A short sleeved, Royal Blue shirt with visible scuff marks on the neck, presumably from where it had to be stretched to fit over the wearers vastly oversized head.

The musical WAG has opened in the West End and has been well received. Jessica Lawlor, a real life WAG who plays mega-bitch Victoria, revealed that boyfriend Stephen Ireland was the more nervous of the two. Jessica, 26 performed during the show’s premiere at the north-east London venue of Ye Olde Rose and Crown. Jessica’s real life WAG friends include 26-year old Chantelle Tagoe, Manchester City Emile Heskey’s fiancée and Carla Kompany, wife of captain Vincent Kompany; all of whom have seen a dress rehearsal and boyfriend Stephen plans to see the show in a few days after his return from Los Angeles.

In the show, Jessica’s co-stars include Pippa Fulton, girlfriend of Clayton Donaldson the Brentford striker and former Eastenders star Belinda Owusu. Pippa, a former star of the Fame Academy says the musical plays on the well known stereotypes of football and people seem to love it.
